We have an extraordinary staff with not only athletic experience, but with a wide array of clinical experience as well.

Dennis and Brandon began Virginia Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy at the Cox Road location in 2005. We have slowly grown with an excellent and very talented staff. We expanded to the Midlothian area in early 2007, and began treating patients at the University of Richmond clinic in August 2008.

 

Brandon Ream Brandon Ream, MPT, CSCS
Director of Physical Therapy

Brandon graduated from Gettysburg College in 1996 with a B.A. in Health and Exercise Science. He played college football, and as a wrestler, won Academic All-American Honors. In 1997, he was credentialed as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Brandon obtained his Master’s of PT from Old Dominion University in 1999. With athletic and orthopedic rehab experience, Brandon creates a positive, motivating, and fun rehab environment. His programs emphasize effective manual therapy, exercise prescription, and patient education. In addition, Brandon is currently working towards his Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) through the University of St. Augustine (FL). A member of the American Physical Therapy Association, he belongs to the Orthopedic and Sports specialty sub-sections of the APTA. Brandon also is a clinical instructor for ODU’s PT program, and is adjunct faculty at the school.

 


Dennis Spurrier

Director Sports Medicine Coordinator

Dennis received his undergraduate degree from Towson University, and graduate degree from Indiana State University in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training. Dennis has been the Athletic Trainer for Douglas Freeman High School since 1978. In addition to treating patients in the clinic, he has been involved in a variety of professional, collegiate, and scholastic athletic events. He has provided and coordinated athletic training services for numerous teams, tournaments, and special events in Richmond. He also takes pride in his involvement as Director of Medical Services with the Special Olympics of Virginia. Dennis feels patients and athletes need to work in an environment that is challenging, informative, empowering, and fun, to achieve their rehabilitation goals.

Our mission is to provide a fast, effective, and safe return to function for our patients. Our programs emphasize exactly what is necessary for the best outcome. We excel as a provider for orthopedic physical therapy. We want your experience here to be educational, effective, and fun.
